I'm not promoting Eminem's hood, but I did run 8 miles today. Not my fastest time ever...wait I've NEVER run 8 miles before, how could I have a better time?!?! I didn't even know I had ran that long until we all got back to the gym. But I did have to stop and take care of a sloshing bladder 4 miles into it. Glad there were some bushes nearby.
Props to Jason for giving me the time to run and taking care of the kiddos with only a few grumbles.
I still feel like I haven't eaten anything all day, when I have. Oh, what to snack on, what to snack on? You better believe it's going to be healthy after that jaunt.
I'm tired.

Vote! Vote! Vote! Vote!
My friend Natalie is competing for The Next GAC Star and needs your votes. The direct link to vote for her is here. Come back often and click, click, click!
From Natalie:
"I've been summoned to do something really cool. GAC (Great American Country), on your local cable television is starting a brand new show called "The Next GAC Star". Starting tomorrow, May 23rd, for 8 weeks you can vote for me :) (Sorry about the voting thing...in this business, that's what it all boils down to anymore) Each week, America will choose a finalist and the judges will choose a finalist. At the end of the 8 weeks, all 16 finalists will get to be on the show! It's very cool! I'm not sure if you can only vote once per day or as many times as you'd like but wouldn't it be fun to find out? I would really just appreciate your support for the next 8 weeks. Also, in the past, so many of you would forward this on to friends and I got so much response from all of your friends. I appreciate that so much.
Please vote!!
Love ya!

In the Home
A couple of fun things we've discovered for our home and the occupants:
1. Dude coughs. Alot. A little over 1/2 teaspoon of honey mixed with a few of drops of water and given to him in a medicine dropper stops his cough almost immediately. Gotta give the props to Parenting magazine for that one. Homemade cough syrup!!
2. It's pretty easy to replace oil when cooking with yogurt! You can do full fat or reduced fat (no fat free) and even if you did full fat, you are getting so many extra nutrients from the yogurt! Cut your use of sugar in the recipe if you are using flavored/sweetened yogurt and by all means it's much better to use a sugar-sweetened yogurt instead of a chemically altered yucky one.
3. Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Countertop Spray is like a breath of fresh cut flowers. And it is all natural, no chemicals or fake stuff. That will make you WANT to clean!
4. Peanut Butter Balls are a great snack and super-healthy!. Plop some peanut butter into a bowl (of course, none with other oils or sugar added to it), pour in some raisins or dried cranberries, then add some raw oats, some honey, mix it all together into little balls and then cover them by rolling them in crushed graham crackers or some more oats. Yummy tummies.
5. Home Depot does some super-cute FREE crafts for the kiddos once a month or twice a month, depending on your store. Contact your local Home Depot for more information. The kids (and mom and dad) loved using the little hammers to put together these adorable flower/pencil holders.
On another note, I came in 6th out of 40 in my age group for the run on Saturday. 6th! My time was 26:52 and it hurt and then I ran again on Sunday. Yeeow! But, it was a fun accomplishment and makes me look forward to a few more runs in the future and then Tulsa Run, here we come.

An update here, an update there...
I don't know what it is about where I'm at in life right now, but I feel reserved, quiet, introverted, vulnerable. But, a grandmother that talked to a group of women I was with yesterday reminded me how important it was to right things down. And maybe it will be cleansing to a degree. Maybe by being vulnerable it helps alleviate some of the vulnerable feelings? Prob'ly not, but one can hope.
In keeping with ages ago postings, I'll write down 10 things I am thankful for.
1. I have a husband that loves me and respects me, laughs at me and helps me remember to laugh at myself. He genuinly wants me to be happy and goes above and beyond to take care of me. He keeps me grounded and lets me be me. He's intelligent and smart, two totally different things, and works hard for our family.
2. Our two kiddos are healthy, beautiful, fun to be around and are just two really good kids. I don't claim perfection for them, but they are spectacular to be around, to watch grow, and to parent. I love those little guys.
3. I've been unusually drawn to Camille lately. I just want to hold her longer and be with her more. She is really growing up. Her legs are getting long, she looks like a little girl instead of a toddler and her personality is blossoming so much. One of the kids pulled out a photo album of her around 8 months old and it is amazing to see the young lady she is becoming.
4. Isaac has started to pander to his audiences. I can tell he enjoys the attention and will have to make sure that we show him plenty of positive attention so he doesn't crave it so much to turn to negative attention. He always has been and always will be a little spitfire. But, one of the best things about him lately is to see him after Jason or I "fix" his hair in a faux-hawk. He poses with it and is concerned that it gets messed up if I should happen to put his shirt on after his hair has been fixed. Heaven forbid! He is only 21 months, mind you.
5. My summer bible study starts in 3.5 short weeks. I have desperatley craved the gathering with these women and I am so excited to dive in and Keri is going to be joining me!!!!!!!
6. I have so much room in my garage now. The Escy is gone. For more reasons than I think you might believe, it was the right thing to do to get rid of it. It was a smart decision, it was a necessary decision and it is an act of worship for me. Yes, an act of worship, a deliberate way for me to bring glory to God. If you want the whole story, I'll fill you in. But seriously, an Acura TSX takes up soooooo much less room in my garage.
7. I am training for the Tulsa Run in October. I finally have a running group and I am actually running with a purpose. The first run I'll ever run is Saturday at the Aquarium for their Aquarium Run. It's only a 5k and will be over in less than 1/2 an hour, but I am so nervous. I've actually dreamt about it the last two nights. You know the dreams about missing your last final or showing up naked to the dance. Those dreams. It should be fun for the kiddos to see me run and I am instilling in them a desire to be healthy and active by living it out!! I really have enjoyed running with a purpose and not just running just cuz.
8. It is spring!! I am so thankful to just open up the back door and let the kids play. The weather is beautiful, the breeze is blowing, the flowers are blooming, so are the weeds - it's spring!
9. Today, the kids and I named my new car Zippity-Doo-Da the Speed Racer or Zippy for short. Camille even asked today as we got on the highway, "Mommy, Is this a race car?" It's fun to be in a little car again.
10. I have a solid relationship with God founded on faith and fact and more meaningful than anything I could have ever imagined. My focus is on doing the right thing for my relationship with God and my family and owning my own faith. Geez-Louise is it hard, but fulfilling.
