Is your mom or dad home?

I just had the second person in 1 hour come to my door to try to sell me something (DURING NAPTIME!). The first was a very energetic carpet cleaning salesman. Thanks, but we have hard wood floors.

The second was a nasaly OU sophomore trying to sell me magazines so he can study abroad in Spain. I'm all for it, I loved my time in Spain. But, here is where he lost me..."Is your mom or dad home?" "I'm the mom" was my rapt reply. Know your audience, dude. Then, I gave him my kind "No, it's a waste of paper, because we don't read them." As I'm shutting the door, I hear his frustrated rhetoric he is mumbling to himself. I'm still here, buddy! Same distance as before! I do have ears! Is this the future of our nation?

I guess I'll take the mom statement as a compliment.
