I walked through a spider web tonight. I thought I heard Jason's truck heading home, and I opened the door. The dogs ran out and had to walk out and get them. Don't normally look to see if there is a spider web covering my front porch and I plastered myself right into it. It was big enough for me to hear the threads breaking on my hair and face.
You've done the dance before, admit it. Panicked swiping at your face, body, hair. Aggresive pulling at admitedly invisible silks beautiful in their connected form with dew sitting gracefully and precariously on air, disgusting as they peel from your appendages and skin.
I looked at the remaining web to assure myself the spider held on to it's home for dear life; he/she was still there. Yet, I still feel him/her crawling on my skin.
I think I'll look to see if there is a web there from now on. I honestly am going to do an encore of the dance now.
I have the wee bee jee bees.

Happy Birthday to our Son!
So, his official birthday was August 7, but the celebration was Saturday and I'm just now blogging about it on the following Wednesday. Minor detail. My sweet Isaac is now a 1 year old BOY. Not that he wasn't a boy, but he finally has toys made for boys! There will still be the occasional Barbie picked up and the orange purse carried around, but now he has tractors and dump trucks and helicopters and "bathketballs" (hee hee...bath toys) and his own John Deere gator to to play with.
If I must admit, the cake I made, green velvet cake instead of red velvet cake, was a hit! It was so fun to make and I appreciated the help from Camille on icing it and putting on the sprinkles.
We had a wonderful day and it was such a blessing to have so much family surrounding our little boy with love. Thank you to everyone that came and made his day a very special one.
Some of the things Isaac has taught me during his first year of life:
1. I'm good with two kids.
2. Sometimes I wish his poop stunk more so that I could smell it and clean him up BEFORE he gets a horrible diaper rash.
3. You can go to the doctor multiple times in one month and still not have one of them be a well-child visit.
4. Some little boys can crush their thumb in the tv cabinet door and bust open their top lip within 9 hours and still have no fear.
5. Did I mention he has no fear? No fear of water, stairs, ledges, dogs, other big kids, doors, drawers, lamps, hot concrete or toilets.
6. He favors routine and lets me know when it is varied beyond his comfort level.
7. He is superbly intelligent as he says over 30 words now including Mommy, Daddy, dog, woof, kitty cat, meow, fish, shoe, shhhhh, up, down, all done, round and round, night night, cracker, cheese, more, please, help, Pops, Pa Pa, Mi Mi, push, oh boy, ball, balloon, ribbit, hi, bye bye, baby, juice, banana, no, yes and is learning new ones every day! So proud of him!
8. He would much rather be up and playing than sleeping. I would much rather he enjoyed sleeping more.
9. He is consistent.
10. He is stubborn.
11. He is one of the sweetest little lovers. I love how he snuggles after waking up and randomly comes up to me while he is playing and leans in for a full hug.
12. At the crescendo of his first birthday, he all of a sudden decided there was no need to cry anymore when I dropped him off in the church nursery or at the gym. It's like he decided, "Thanks, Mom, but that crying was for babies. Does not apply here."
13. After all the poo-pooing that I secretly gave to other moms that cried when their babies reached a big milestone, it came back to bight me in the butt. I went to drop off Isaac at church on Sunday and unbeknownst to me, he was now in the big kids room and actually leaned in to the worker to go to his new room. It caught me by such surprise, that I got emotional and had to bite my quivering lip. Sure made Jason laugh.
14. One year old boys know how to throw fits just like two year old girls. He learned that very easily.
15. He is allergic to scented dryer sheets and turns out...NOT allergic to grass.
16. He out-eats Camille at every meal. I don't know that he would ever stop eating if it weren't for distractions around him.
17. He prefers eating with a fork...even peas. Won't really eat with his hands as evidenced by the pictures below and the quizzical look on his face when given a piece of cake.
18. He is a light sleeper and room-darkening shades do help him sleep in a little more. Is 15 minutes really considered more?
19. His smile melts your heart.
20. I am so excited to see what God has planned for his life. He is a strong, smart, tender-hearted creation of God that has brought significant enrichment to our little family. I pray that I can be a source of strength and encouragement to him as he grows and that he seeks God in everything in his life. I am honored to be his mom no matter how tough this first year was.
We get his 1 year pictures next Thursday, and I'll post them soon after. I can't wait to see how the pics turn out. But, until we are snapped by Ace, I'll leave you with some of my favorite snapshots below from Isaac's birthday.

I Carry Your Heart and I Love It!
I've been a busy little bee lately...
I started creating canvas room décor with photo clips and I love it so much, I started a business, I Carry Your Heart, to sell them. Check out the pictures right under this update to see examples of previous sales, choose from the inventory, or place your orders, and I'll start crafting for you.
Each canvas is hand-painted and paper choices are personally designed, crafted and sealed onto the canvas. The canvas is then embellished to coordinate with your décor and becomes a great door hanging or room decoration. I especially love seeing these on a door as it sets the tone of the room before you even walk in!
The photo clips make changing out the pictures much simpler than any picture frame. Every canvas is personalized with the name you choose and there can be more than one name on the canvas. Seasonal canvases are also available and these make great baby and wedding shower gifts as well as birthday gifts. The ideas for your own personalized canvases are limitless! If it can be decorated, it can be done!
Remember, Christmas is just around the corner and it is never too early to get your shopping completed. Pricing information is available on request.
For those in my area, I am willing to do home shows, contact me and we will set a date.
Now, you know what I've been up to! I expect an order soon!
