Exterminators and Baby Gifts

1. I love that there are businesses out there whose sole priority is to kill your bugs. I love that Bulwark Exterminators use products that are okay for C and I to be in the house while they do their touch-ups for the random silverfish on the bathroom wall and the beetle that made it's way into our home. I also love that I have not seen a single black widow spider since they came and sprayed and continue to keep those nasties gone!

2. I am so thankful for the enormous outpouring of gifts from our dear friends and family to help celebrate the coming of Isaac.

3. C can finally blow bubbles in the water with her mouth. (She has long been able to make bubbles in the water with her tooshy.) But, this is a huge step in her comfort in the water!

4. Getting thank you cards completed. Always a weight off m shoulders.

5. Water therapy class this afternoon. I'm praying for some back relief.

6. Jason planning a date for us for Friday afternoon all by himself! He even confirmed Mom to watch C all on his own! It's little things like that that always help you feel loved. We are going to go watch The Devil Wears Prada and go out to dinner. I have to thank Cassie for suggesting the book so long ago in book club, and thank Jason for picking a girly movie to take me to. Although he won't readily admit it, he does enjoy them too! Hee-hee!

7. One more day closer to delivery. I just got one of my email updates about pregnancy and it said, "Just remember, your baby is easier to take care of in there than it is out here." Well, maybe, but not in my mindset right now. I keep asking Jason to take over just this last part of pregnancy for me, but for some reason, he's not going for it.

8. Doing quite a bit of activity yesterday. C and I walked to our park in the neighborhood in the morning, I went to my cardio class and then we all went on a walk around the neighborhood after dinner. It felt good to move.

9. Seeing part of a good movie last night, The Man in the Iron Mask. Of course, I was too tired to stay up and finish watching it, but it was a nice break.

10. Praying with C every night and hearing her say "amen" when we are finished. It's just her confirming what she can't yet put into words. Please God, keep these children blessed.

Anticipating the Countdown

I'm really ready to be finished with this pregnancy stint. Everything is uncomfortable and the time seems to be dragging on. All is good with all of us, I'm just pooped and tired of hurting. But, this is not for complaining, it is for giving thanks, so hop to it, Mama...

1. The physical therapy appointment I had today. I actually don't feel any better right now, but I know with time and the aquatics therapy in the heated pool I get twice next week, we should start seeing some progress. But, stink! My back still hurts.

2. Going to see Keri, Anna and Bo this morning and swimming at their apartment pool. It was so nice to not have to worry about anything, but just being. I’m so thankful they are close now.

3. Going on a walk with our little family this evening. It’s amazing what a good rainfall will do for the weather. It was cool and refreshing to be outside, and it helped my owies go away (Braxton Hicks).

4. Getting some cute maternity clothes from Keri, and great little boy clothes from Bo. Especially this far into a pregnancy, it’s nice to have new things to wear after wearing the same-ole-same-ole for so long.

5. Camille entertaining herself with an empty tube of bubbles and a lid from her baby wash in the chair in our room. It’s the only one she can climb in by herself, and I think she takes solace in the quietness of the room.

6. Jason enjoys cooking. Enough said.

7. Taking Camille to see Jason play soccer last night. He has a blast and C loves being outdoors for any reason.

8. With all the gifts we received from the shower, Isaac’s room is really coming together. When it is all completed, I’ll post pictures! I love it already!

9. Going on Sunday to hear Todd preach for the first time at his and Karen’s church.

10. The shower for Cristy on Sunday evening. Should be a blast!

Shower and Sleep

First of all, a HUGE thank you to Becca for throwing me a very calming, enjoyable shower for little Isaac. I feel very blessed by everyone that gave gifts and attended seeing as it was only a very short time ago that I was receiving so much for Camille. So to everyone, thank you and you will never know how much you are appreciated and loved for your continued support of our growing family.

I have to share good news! I slept through the night on Friday night! I started out on the couch and woke up at about 7:15 not understanding how I managed that much connected sleep. My back did hurt quite a bit, but a loooong hot-but-not-too-hot-for-baby shower while Jason got the house finished before his Mom and Doyle came over really made a difference.

Because of my lack of staying on top of daily thankful lists, I'll make this one a good one...

1. Jason finding information online about doctoral programs. It's hard to not be excited for him when I listen to him talk about it. Some don't understand his own personal desire to go this far with his education, and that's too bad for them. I see how it makes him happy when he is accomplishing so much through his classes with his peers. That sentence may not make sense. I guess you could say that he is reaffirming his own intelligence by having his professors and peers contribute an enormous amount of positive feedback to his work. He is here, at home with his family, while he is accomplishing his masters degree and doing more to secure his future by wanting . How could it be any better than that?

2. Listening to Camille talk. It is a rare occasion that I don't understand what she is trying to get across as there are so many words that she uses now. Starting on Sunday, however, she developed her own word, and I haven't quite figured out what it is. It sounds almost like "help me" as she is using it when she wants me to do something with her. But, I think I might need to have a few more days of interpretation to really know what she is trying to get across. I have a feeling this is not going to be the only time she is frustrated by me not knowing what she is saying.

3. Having nothing on the calendar for a couple of days. It's been a whirlwind of activity. It is making time fly by for the arrival of Isaac. 7 weeks left!

4. The praise and worship at church on Sunday and the preaching for that matter. The pastor made a comment about some pastors not wanting to preach correction to their congregation as they don't want to offend, he called those pastors weenies! I say bring on the correction! How else are we supposed to grow and understand God's will and plan for our life if we constantly are under the impression that what we are doing doesn't really matter?

5. The ability of Camille to entertain herself. Much appreciated.

6. Good food. We got Los Cabos to go last night and I have leftovers I am salivating over. Is it too early for lunch? I'm starving already!

7. The doctors office calling me this morning and saying they are going to fax my information over the physical therapy office and have them call me to set an appointment. Anything to help my back. The potential to ease my back pain without medicine, even if it is just Tylenol, is worth its own thankful list.

8. Beautiful, warm, sunny day.

9. Hearing Melinda is expecting! How very exciting for her, I know she is absolutely thrilled!

10. Planning a lunch with ex-Philbrookees. Always love them.

It's Over!

The big event that has been occupying my time this last week (much to Jason's shagrin) is over! My 10 year high school reunion is over! I put in so much effort, not to mention money, and the house suffered because of it. Dishes never got done, laundry never got folded, and Jason had to sit through two different events on Friday and Saturday and whisper over and over, "You owe me. You owe me." I will admit that even with being involved in the planning of this shindig, it was incredibly awkward for quite a while, and I am normally comfortable in any situation. The one thing that I guess you could say was that I walked away with an incredible amount of peace and joy for where my life is right now and the decisions that we have made to bring us to this point. I wouldn't change anything that has happened in our lives because it has made us who we are and put us where we are now. For that realization and I guess you could say, privilege, I am so very thankful.

Along with that major event, we have been spending a significant amount of time on getting our room put together and Isaac's room. We have everything that we got at Ikea (my absolute favorite, so very inexpensive home store mecca) put up and to good use. Our bedroom actually looks like a bedroom set now instead of a mix and match of college years and newly married maybes. Jason put in a great deal of effort making our dressers really pop by adding the drawer pulls. They took the dressers from Ikea to Urban Furnishings (very expensive home store that was always out of our range) immediately. And, there is not a single one that is crooked or off-center. He is good! All that is left in Isaac's room is to paint the two new pieces of furniture that we moved in there from our room. We have 8 weeks left to do it in, so we are doing good.

On the pregnancy front, the little man is doing great. Mom and I went to see Dr. W yesterday, and he has plenty of fluid, his umbilical cord is very long (so cool to see), and he is head down. All good news. We have discoverd the main source of my back pain as well. He is not sunny side up, but he is not facing my back either. He is rather comfortably (for him) laying on his side. This has caused many painful nights of sleep for me as I wait for the Tylenol to kick in. This morning seemed to be the worst one to date as when I woke up at 5:30 am to go to the bathroom, my back hurt so bad that it hurt to breathe. I just kept telling myself, "Only 8 more weeks, only 8 more weeks." Then my negative side kept saying, "8 more weeks of this!?!?!" Finally the Tylenol kicked in and the heating pad that Jason put in the recliner for me started doing its job. I am officically out of the bed for the remainder of the pregnancy. There is just something about laying down that I can't handle no matter how many pillows I put in that bed. There is one thing I do remember from right after Camille was born. After I would get up to feed her in the middle of the night, I would crawl back in bed and honestly have to smile at how comfortable laying in that bed was. I know there is hope and a light at the end of this back pain tunnel. The tunnel is just an 8 week long trip to get through.

So, now that we are caught up in the events of the Coffin family, I will move right along to my top 10 most thankfuls...

1. Camille being back on her very precious sleeping schedule. The last few days have boasted 10am, 9:40am and 9:10am. I love that dear schedule of hers.

2. Finally getting a prescription to take care of Camille's yeast infection.

3. My reunion is over, and for what God has blessed us with and where we have decided to be.

4. Nearing the last turn in this pregnancy. Very soon our little man will be on this side of the womb with us. We are at the every 2 weeks part of the doctor's appointments. Hooray!

5. Swim classes started again for Camille last week. She was so excited to be back in the water, I could barely keep a hold of her.

6. The great time that we had with Chris a couple of weekends ago. Always good to see family.

7. For Jason, the laundry being done, the dishes being done and the house looking like someone actually lives here and likes it.

8. The rain we had yesterday. What a pleasant surprise. 20% chance doesn't normally mean much in Tulsa.

9. Air conditioning and ice water.

10. Camille's 15 month appointment. She is everywhere she needs to be, and is ahead on her verbal skills. We have a chatter!

Two Naps!

Two naps! Count 'em...one, two! I got a full hours worth of a nap as well during the second one. Jason was even home. He called and said he was pulling in the driveway, I got off the couch, opened the door, said hi, gave him a peck, said, "I'm going to sleep now" and plopped myself right back on that couch. One hour later, poop woke up my daughter and we were off to the gym!

1. Getting the laundry done today. Always thankful that's over for the week.

2. Did I mention Camille's two naps?

3. The ENORMOUS amount of rain we have received in the last couple of days.

4. Camille climbing onto the couch by herself. We taught her "up" so that she is saying a word instead of crying/complaining to be held or to sit beside you, and she uses it.

5. The great pics I took of Camille wearing Jason's shoes. She found them herself and stuck her little feet into them all on her own. I had to run and get the camera before she moved on to something else. The look on her face was priceless for the second picture. She really did just look at me and grin the biggest grin after she heard the camera snap the first time.
Also, just getting pics out of our projects! Click to see...

6. Going to Texas tomorrow to see my brother Chris and get some shopping done at Ikea! Since we are going to move our mismatched dresser pieces into the kid's rooms, we decided it was time for some married furniture to grace our bedroom.

7. Chris letting us stay at his house. Saving on hotel $$!

8. Seeing Keri, Anna and Bo tomorrow morning.

9. Camille eating dinner tonight without a struggle.

10. Jason taking C into the office with him so I could get this done before I have to give her a bath. Should be one of the last baths I give her, but he is busy with homework tonight and he is going to do some serious bargain shopping with me on Saturday. Guess I can help him out tonight!
